BJA Perspectives: Work life balance

Context: Fully acknowledge that there would be other valid ways to skin a cat. Below is more of perspectives from my unfolding journey. Always subject to context, bound to evolve and should be consumed with that in mind. Hoping to learn about other school of thoughts around navigating work life balance, and where applicable, hoping my reflections provide an alternative pathway.

My approach: Work and life interwoven, built around the being and collective good.

1. How do I get better in work and life continuously on a repeat loop?

2. Clear articulation of the landscape and the requirements to advance both paths to the best of my ability.

3. And while at it, continuously evaluating the milestones, reflections and necessary iterations for the end goal but also ensuring I find joy and purpose in doing them.

Trust me, there would be valleys and could be a lonely and draining passage if the priorities and end goal are vaguely patterned or articulated.

Enabling and finding balance:

The collective good on the tactical and longer term sustainable value matters a lot to me. And over time, from a mile away – it has helped me sieve out the noise and crowd of opinions to form a truly authentic view point on things I decide to spend time on.

This mindset has also helped to define the new habits, skill sets and learning path including activities that I find fulfillment from doing.

Clarity would always be elusive but how about the skeleton, boundaries, values, mustering the courage and building the health and habits to keep showing up? Those should be attainable and remain in focus.

Ring fencing clarity on what truly matters:

1. Does this benefit a larger group or at least one more person?

2. Do I have interest, resources and skill set to contribute meaningfully?

3. How does this move me forward personally.
